Lost Piece #1 - The Gospel Truth

"I know my Jesus, I love Him, and I think if he needed me to believe that homosexuality was a sin, He would have mentioned it. He didn’t. When Jesus said that marriage was between a man and a woman, he was responding to a question about divorce, not sexuality.* And even the Gospels... well, even though they are gospel to me, I accept that they are also interpretations of what Jesus said and did and meant -we don’t have a single written word directly from Jesus. He could have left us something - he could have left another list of rights and wrongs when He came to Earth, but he chose not to." Glennon Doyle Melton - Aug 25, 2013 These words were penned by Ms. Glennon Doyle Melton who is an author and Christian blogger. Back in February of 2017 she announced that she was engaged to Abby Wambach a former Women's Soccer Champion. Glennon had been married to her husband (Craig Melton) for over 14 years before she divorced him due to his extramarital affairs.  Glennon had als...

Piece #92 - Rebuking

I realize that rebuke tends to be a more biblical term, but it can reach much further than a simple reference in the Bible. I learned an interesting lesson about rebuking, it's not as easy as it seems. Webster's Dictionary defines rebuke as   " to speak in an angry and critical way to (someone) " I can see how and why the dictionary defined it as such, but I feel like the dictionary didn't quite get this word properly defined. I would almost say this this definition is meant for 'chastising' than 'rebuking'. I would define rebuking as 'a method of correcting one's decisions in a critical manner.' Anger is involved but, not in the way the definition uses it.  I can recall on many occasions when I was rebuke quite often from people that are close to me. The big problem with Asperger's is even though a friend or family member might warn me about something that I did wrong; there are times when I'll do it again. Thus, I would b...

Piece #90 - Wanted: Dead or Alive

Yes, I will admit that the title of this piece was inspired from Bon Jovi. I listened to this song for a long time, but I have to be honest and say that I've had a new look on my life in regards to this music. I can look at this 'Wanted: Dead or Alive" in several parts of my life choices and disorders. If you have been reading my blogs, you know that I'm Christian and I'm not afraid to admit it, but in many parts of the world, I would be considered a 'wanted man'. My disorder of Asperger's Syndrome has seemed to put a bull’s eye on my head with people that either don't understand or don't WANT to understand. Back on February 16th of 2015 21 Christian men were slaughtered because of their belief in Jesus. Here's the small part of the news story: "The 21 men have been declared martyrs by the Coptic Church. In the yard of the Coptic Church in the village of  Yes, I will admit that the title of this piece was inspired from Bon Jovi...

Piece #76 - Head of the House

I realize in today's family, the roles are changing rather drastically. I can think of another time when roles in the family were shaken up since World War 2. Life today seems more like unwed mothers giving birth to fatherless children and if they are married the couple only has about a 50-50 shot of staying married. I realize this doesn't seem to make sense, but that's the reality of the world we live in. Traditionally, in any house, the father was the person who was always considered the 'head of the household', but that role has deteriorated through the years. How did this whole idea start? Not surprising we can look to the Bible for the answer. As I mentioned back in a previous blog about Leadership, the book dictates that the male is the head of the household and will be personally judged on the spirituality of the members of the family. So we as the males have a heavy responsibility on the welfare of everyone in the family. Sadly, this task for the male o...

Piece #34 - Leadership

If you've had the opportunity to read any of my blogs, you might have noticed that there were many times in my life that I would thrust myself into the role of the leader. It's been peppered all through out my different postings, from scouting to teaching. I guess the question would have to be 'Why am I greatly drawn to a leadership position when I try to avoid people and conflict?!!!! Arrrrrrr!' Very frustrating! It doesn't seem to make any sense. I guess I could think of it like an 'arm chair quarterback', I would gripe about how things should be; but I actually want to do something about it. It seems like I feel compelled to step up and do the job, rather than simply complain. In its simplest form, I'm the leader of the house...or at least that is what my wife wants me to think. She does a lot of backdoor deals that I tend to be unaware of. When there is life or limb on the line, I'm usually the one who makes the final decision...storms, emerge...

Piece #18 - Money, Money, Money

I agree in many cases that " The love of Money is the root of all evil ". I'm not a big fan of money, of course I'm not rich, but believe it or not...it doesn't really matter. I didn't come into this world with money and when I leave...it's not going with me! The only irony in all of this is that my favorite color is green. It has been since I was a kid. ( But, it wasn't because of money .) I believe the issue I have the most about money is trying to keep everything organized as to bills that needed to be paid versus trying to purchase items that might be needed for the family. To be honest, my wife JaimeeAsperger's, I might miss or forget important details that could be critical to our budget. I did make an open observation that slapped me right in the face when I was given a credit card for me to use because we have to be careful about our funds at the current time. Little did I know that I ended up 'nickel and diming' myself right th...

Piece #17 - It's a matter of...Priorities

When it comes to setting my priorities, you would think this would be a "No Brainer", but with my Asperger's ( and my wif e); that's not always the case. My problem is "the situation", not the guy from Jersey Shore, I mean when anything like my job or my family comes into a conflict for me ( hinds the situation ); I actually find it difficult to make to proper decision. Why I say my wife, is because she feels there are many times when I do something for work, where as I should’ve been something else I needed to do for the family – ahead of the job. I think the main problem with priorities is that I tend to be a "do it now" person. Sometimes, it is a good idea to get things done right away, but there are times when I should put certain things off because of some more pressing matter. With my memory issues, I tend to forget a task if I don't address it right away, it rarely gets taken care of. As Shakespeare would say, therein lays the rub, if...
