Pressing Puzzles

I wanted to start this post by inferring that the title does not mean men alone. Since I have daughters as well, I will be addressing both sides of the human gender. [The title comes from a ZZ Tops song.] One of the main things that Jaimee and I are trying to instill in one of our twin daughters is having a sense of cleanliness. I always hear that a woman loves a 'bad boy', but I seriously thought they would love a 'stinky, smelly boy'. There is a really good reason why the saying 'Cleanliness is next to Godliness' is rather important, if there is any guy or gal out there who is still looking for that special someone then you might serious think about what I'm trying to say. Being 'Sharp Dressed' can really impress someone special and say a lot about you as a potential mate. One thing I've actually had to learn recently is to be well dressed for an interview. Having to go a job interview isn't something I've had to do for a long time...

One of the things that I get sometimes when people find out that I have Asperger's Syndrome is they all want to know what is my special gift. I guess this is a ligament inquiry because after all, many people how have been featured on television or movie that are autistic seem to all exhibit some form of talent that most people don't have. Not only do people inquiry about the talent, but how intelligent are you when it comes to these attributes? Some great examples of people with these talents like Dr. Temple Grandin who was revolutionary with her treatment of cattle, Albert Einstein of course developed the equation of E=MC2 and John Elder Robison has the special ability to modify amplifiers, rebuild cars and several other mechanical feats that few people can do. There are even others who can look at a city's skyline and then sit down in a studio with no picture in hand and then redraw the skyline to the last detail. Here's an area of where I'm not sure most of the misunderstanding falls, because of my Asperger's or because I'm just a guy. I'm not really big on fashion, even in movies premiers or runaways; although I did like fashion movies like " The Devil Wears Prada " and " Zoolander ". Dr. Temple Grandin wears cowgirl outfits and she looks great! When I was younger, I always   thought   I had a fashion sense, but I think I might have been sorely wrong. I always thought I was so well dressed that many of the other kids in school were just jealous; or so I thought. I did have second thoughts when all the girls just wanted to "be my friend" so I wasn't sure if it was the clothes or the person. As the art major that I was, I wanted to make sure I dressed for the part - especially in college. I mean, I was the president of the art club and I felt like I had to dress like I was the president...of course, later that next year I met a young beautif...

I know I will be writing a different posting on movies in general later on, but my goal here is to talk about autism in the media and how Asperger's is used in movies and television. I have seen several movies and television shows that directly address autism in their performances, but I honestly haven't seen them all. I think the best way to tackle this is by addressing the movies first and then finishing out with television. I think Hollywood is trying to do the right thing, but like most media in Hollywood...they don't always get it right. (I think in some way they are a little out of touch with reality.)   By far the best film I've seen is "Mary and Max" because it is based on a true story. It was done in Claymation, but the content is excellent. It's the story of two people who strike up an exchange of letters between them. Mary is from Australia and Max is from New York City.
